Who is akio hattori

Mar 23, GMT. I have been looking at the Akio Hattori katana on Darksword armory. They look nice, but pictures can be deceiving. I have seen the youtube videos on the items. I am interested in the folded blade. Any and all opinions will be appreciated. Thanks www. Oogway Member. I am not familiar with them personally but even the normal price seems to be very expensive for a folded blade. Folding is a difficult and laborious process that when done improperly makes a bad blade. Inexpensive folded blades are rarely folded enough times leaving a very heavy wood-grain finish.

I don't recall seeing the temper process listed. Folded blades are almost always differentially tempered, another expensive process because the blade is ruined by cracks in say 1 in times. I have yet to see a through-hardened folded blade offered on a common basis. They don't tell you the steel type used, another red flag in my eyes. In short, why is a folded and perhaps clay tempered blade offered at near the same price as a mono-steel oil quench, and if so, what short-cuts were taken to make a profit?

However, After checking the tsuka I love blades the mekug peg is off center and there is cracking around the peg. The rayskin is torn as well. I really doubt that they did any type of inspection before sending this out.
